Manage Appointment Planning

The Appointment Planning window allows you to manage the selected patient’s upcoming appointments. From here, you can complete any of the following:

  • View planned treatments for the patient.

  • Add new planned appointments for planned treatments already in axiUm.

  • Assign planned treatments to existing appointments.

  • Set a booking order for the scheduling staff to follow when scheduling appointments.

The window can run in one of two modes:

  • Appointment Planning: This mode allows you to assign planned treatments to planned appointments, as well as create and manage appointment series.

  • Booking Order: This mode allows you to define the booking order for appointments and appointment series.

To manage appointment planning:

  1. Open the Scheduler module and click the Select Patient () icon to display the Select Patient window.

  2. Search for and select a patient to display the Patient Appointments or Family Appointments window.

    3. Note: The window is managed from the Scheduler Options window > Patient/Family Appointment Window section > Mode field.

  3. Review the listed appointments.

  4. Click Planning… to display the Appointment Planning window.

    5. Tip: You can also right-click an appointment from the Active or Pending tabs and select Appointment Planning… to display the Appointment Planning window.

  5. To perform another task, complete one of the following:

    1. Select the Show Past checkbox to include past appointments in the unscheduled appointment list.

      2. Note: If deselected, all active, checked in, and checked out appointments in the past are hidden.

    1. Select the Show Scheduled checkbox to include planned treatments attached to scheduled appointments in the planned appointment list.

      2. Tip: An Appt Date column also displays.

    1. Select the Show Treatments checkbox to display any treatments associated with each planned appointment.

    You can add a planned appointment for a planned treatment already in axiUm.

    1. Select a listed treatment and click New Appt… to display the New Planned Appointment window.

    2. Complete the fields as necessary and click Accept.

    1. Select the Appointment Planning radio button.

    2. Select a listed planned appointment.

    3. In the Planned Treatments pane, select a listed treatment and click the > button to move to the other pane.

    4. Repeat Steps b-c as necessary to move all applicable treatments.

      5. Tip: If necessary, you can select a listed treatment and click the < button to move to the Planned Treatments pane.

    1. Right-click a listed appointment and select Create Series… to display the Appointment Series window.

      2. Note: This option is only enabled if the appointment is not part of a series.

    2. Complete the fields as necessary including the Series Number, Description and Minimum interval of __ and Note, and close the Appointment Series window.

    1. Right-click a listed appointment and select Edit Series… to display the Appointment Series window.

      2. Note: This option is only enabled if the appointment is part of a series.

    2. Modify the fields as necessary and close the Appointment Series window.

    1. Right-click a listed appointment and select Remove from Series….
